Reading the Speed Ratings

AAR rates its bags on a 1–10 scale, where 10 is the fastest. The first number is the slow (carpet) side and the second is the slick fast side. Treat ratings as a starting point: board surface, humidity, and break-in all change how a bag plays.

Pro Series – ACL Pro Stamped

Ripper (6/9) – AAR's most popular bag. A quick hybrid carpet slow side and a slick fast side, with a flat resin fill for straight, predictable slides. It's the bag Jamie Graham threw on the way to the 2025 ACL Pro Singles World Championship, and a great fit if you like a faster carpet bag that finds the hole.

Ripper-X (6/10) – The same hybrid carpet as the Ripper, paired with a mixed fill that gives it a bit more life sliding toward the hole. Ideal for players who switch between running bags and placing strategic shots.

Ripper-Z (6/10) – Ripper carpet with AAR's low-profile fill. It has a thinner, looser feel that drapes over the hole, making it the most forgiving version of the Ripper for players who want maximum drip.

Vandal (5.5/10) – The middle ground of the lineup, sitting between the Shockwave and the Ripper in speed. A medium hybrid carpet and flat fill keep it steady for blocks, rolls, cuts, and hole shots alike.

Phantom (5.5/10) – A fast hybrid carpet built for finesse players who like to run a lot of bags.

Phantom-X – (5.5/10) - Fast hybrid carpet paired with a smooth slick side for hole-seeking

Shockwave (5/10) – AAR's original carpet bag. A grippy herringbone carpet slow side and an ultra-slick fast side. It's especially good for players with a lot of spin or a hard release, and it shines on fast boards.

Shockwave-X (4.5/9) – The Shockwave's herringbone carpet with a mixed fill, adding more control on rolls, cuts, and slides that hunt the hole.

Aftershock – (4/9) -  Ideal for a hybrid or "dirty round" style of play, supporting cuts, flops, rolls, and aggressive blocker interactions

Aftershock-X (4/10) – A traditional sticky carpet with a mixed fill. Made for blocking and rolling at moderate speed, with dependable cut shots in any conditions.

Comp Series – ACL Comp Stamped

Gametime (7/9) – Slick materials on both sides for a fast, true slide that stays on line. A strong value for players who want speed at a lower price. ACL Comp stamped bags are legal for ACL play outside the Pro division but not for broadcast events.

Blitz – (4/10) -  The tacky slow side supports advanced placement like blocking, rolling, and cutting shots, while the fast side pushes through clutter. 

Tailgate Series

Bandit (6/9) – AAR's tailgate bag, a good fit for backyard games and casual play.

Break-In Tip

Don't use heat to break in Ripper-series bags. Heat can shrink them enough to fail inspection at ACL events, so throwing them is the best way to break them in.
